ED Expansion for Exceptional Patient Care

 St. Charles Hospital's emergency department (ED) expansion provides the highest level of care for patients requiring emergency care in Port Jefferson and surrounding communities.

Highlights of our expansion include:

• Increased space of approximately 4,000 square feet that includes an additional 10 treatment bays, a larger waiting room, and additional nursing and charting stations.
• Fast track/urgent care designated area for rapid assessment and escalation to a higher level as needed.
• Separate waiting room and treatment area for those seeking chemical dependency detoxification.

St. Charles Hospital has received a Leapfrog “A,” the nation’s top distinction for patient safety. Other recognitions include:

• Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians.
• Joint Commission Advanced Certification in Total Hip and Knee Replacement, Stroke and Palliative Care.
