Expanding Our Emergency Department for Exceptional Care
Mercy Hospital’s expansion of its emergency department (ED) gives patients in Rockville Centre and surrounding communities the highest level of emergency care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Highlights of the emergency department expansion include:
- A new layout to streamline processes and minimize delays
- New treatment bays
- Large and comfortable waiting room
- New registration and triage suite
- New ambulance bay
- Expedites patient transfers
- Makes it more accessible for EMS to enter the ED

Mercy Hospital’s emergency department nurses earned an Emergency Nurses Associate (ENA) 2024 Lantern Award, which recognizes them for exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.
