Everton Rose exemplifies our Catholic Health mission. As a nursing assistant on 3 South at Good Samaritan University Hospital, Everton is dedicated to caring for others, while also advancing his career by pursuing a master’s degree in theology. “What I enjoy most about my current role is having the opportunity to fulfill the mission of Christ and helping those who are sick,” said Everton.
Everton has been recognized at the hospital for his commitment to service excellence and for consistently demonstrating our I-CARE values. His compassionate approach to patient care goes above and beyond expectations. For example, during a recent patient’s discharge, Everton noticed that the patient was without shoes, and selflessly gave him his own sneakers to wear!
Well-known for cheering up patients, Everton keeps a guitar in his locker and will sing soothing songs to patients. “One of my patients loved country music, so I played a few songs and provided some historical background on the singers. We soon became best of friends,” stated Everton. On the day of the patient’s discharge, Everton gave him a haircut and shave, while the care team at Good Samaritan bought him new clothes. The patient left the hospital feeling like a member of a loving new family.
When asked for advice for new health care professionals, Everton shared, “Try to make your patients happy, put a smile on their face, and treat them the way you would like to be treated if you were in their position. Your job will be more rewarding.”
