Living the Mission: Elizabeth Brennan

Elizabeth Brennan has been an integral part of St. Joseph Hospital for the past 15 years, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the patients she serves. Her tenure in her current role as patient advocate began six months into her employment at the hospital, when she was asked to temporarily serve in this capacity. What started as a short-term assignment soon became a permanent position, as Elizabeth’s passion for supporting patients and their families made her an invaluable asset to the team. “Caring for patients is always my priority,” said Elizabeth. “I want to ensure that they have the compassionate, comforting care they need at all times.”

Over the years, Elizabeth has enthusiastically embraced the role, becoming a steadfast advocate for patients and making sure their voices are heard throughout their health care journey. A strong believer in our core I-CARE values, Elizabeth has infused these principles into her daily work.

In addition to her patient advocacy responsibilities, Elizabeth has developed a reputation for going above and beyond in her efforts to connect with the broader community. Every year, she organizes a candy drive that has become a much-anticipated tradition at the hospital. Elizabeth collects Halloween candy from hospital employees and local businesses, packing the sweet treats and sending them overseas to troops stationed abroad. This meaningful gesture has brightened the lives of many service members, demonstrating Elizabeth's heartfelt support for those who serve our country.

Elizabeth also frequently assists with a variety of community benefit events. She donates her time for flu shot pods and blood drives, as well as participating in other initiatives to improve public health and well-being. “I want to make a positive difference in the lives of others,” said Elizabeth.

Through her work as St. Joseph’s patient advocate and her volunteer efforts, Elizabeth has become a shining example of dedication, compassion and service. Her unwavering commitment to others makes her a cornerstone of both St. Joseph Hospital and the surrounding community, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encounters.
