Throughout her 18 years at Catholic Health, Carrie Pascale has advanced the services offered to the patients we serve by demonstrating her dedication to the quality, success and growth of our rehabilitation programs.
Recently, Carrie was promoted to director of inpatient therapy at St. Charles Hospital (Port Jefferson, NY). She began her employment at Catholic Health as a speech and language pathologist in 2006 and was promoted to lead speech language pathologist in 2011. In addition to her exceptional clinical skills and expertise, she has a proven track record as a collaborative and effective leader. Over the years, she has been instrumental in ensuring quality assurance for speech therapy services across the continuum, including acute care and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.
“I am proud of the work that the Inpatient Rehabilitation team does every day,” said Carrie. “These therapists pour their hearts and souls into their patients and each other, and I am proud to be able to work with them and see the differences that they are making.”
Carrie’s key to success is leading by example and putting each patient’s needs first. “Our patients deserve 100% of our efforts every day, and we should give them everything we’ve got.” Her positive attitude resonates with her co-workers as well, who appreciate her help when needed and work as a team to resolve differential diagnoses for medically complex patients.
“This department fosters growth, and I have been a fortunate recipient of that,” stated Carrie. “When interviewing candidates for therapist positions, the applicants are often awestruck by the nurturing environment we have created for our staff and our patients, which has contributed to the accomplishments of our program.”
Carrie shares her 18 years of experience with new applicants stating, “Everybody has to put their time in; there is so much to learn at all levels, and skipping over stages only hurts yourself. Love what you do. Be patient, be kind.”
