Changing Careers and Touching Hearts

Before transitioning into health care, Adetoun (Ade) Fajolu, RN, spent several years in banking. She holds a bachelor’s in sociology and a master’s in industrial and labor relations. Inspired by the exceptional care she received during the births of her children at Mercy Hospital, she pursued a career in nursing.

Now a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, Ade began as a certified nursing assistant. Her passion for the field led her to further her education, and become a registered nurse. “It’s indescribable, that feeling you get from patients,” said Ade. “When you see the joy in their eyes when you care for them, the profound impact you have when treating someone touches your heart.”

Her patients feel the same way. One patient expressed gratitude, stating, “Ade is the best nurse I have ever had. I thank God for her assistance in my recovery. Her presence made me feel not only comfortable but also exceptionally safe throughout my treatment.”

This commendation recognizes Ade’s clinical excellence and her special ability to provide personalized care, earning her the prestigious DAISY Award for being an extraordinary nurse. The Diseases Attacking the Immune System (DAISY) Award recognizes outstanding nurses for their skillful and compassionate patient care.

Ade lives by our Catholic Health mission and values. “I believe I provide the care for patients, and God heals. I pray on my way to work and ask God for the wisdom to care for my patients and to provide His healing touch on them.”

Clearly, Ade exemplifies patient care in the Catholic Health way.
