Improved Sleep for Better Health
Restful sleep is a vital part of your overall health. Catholic Health sleep centers across Long Island help diagnose and treat sleep disorders for adults and children, including insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea.
Our board-certified sleep specialists conduct overnight sleep studies in an environment that is safe and comfortable for patients. For those unable to travel, our specialists will discuss the options of virtual sleep consultations and home sleep testing.
Catholic Health Sleep Centers
Good Samaritan Hospital's Sleep Disorders Center (West Islip, NY), accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, is a full-service sleep disorders center staffed with board-certified sleep specialists who diagnose and treat sleep disorders.
The center evaluates patients who are 16 years old and older. Sleep studies are performed in our AASM-accredited sleep center by New York State licensed sleep technologist staff. We offer the latest treatment options to prevent long-term consequences of sleep disorders and improve your quality of life.
Good Samaritan Hospital's Pediatric Sleep Center (West Islip, NY) is devoted to the treatment of children who are in need of diagnostic sleep studies. Many children suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, which can impact proper weight gain and growth as well as lead to behavioral and learning problems. A child who snores should be evaluated for sleep apnea as their untreated daily behaviors often can mimic what may be thought to be attention deficit disorder.
Diagnosis of childhood sleep issues, for patients under the age of 16, is done through a consultation with a board-certified sleep specialist followed by a scheduled overnight stay for testing in our dedicated pediatric sleep center. The center is furnished and decorated in a child friendly manner with our pediatric patients in mind. Parents stay with their child in the testing bedroom. The center offers a comfortable sleeping area for parents.
We do not use invasive equipment. Our testing involves the measuring of breathing, brainwaves and limb movement. The most common treatment for obstructive sleep disorders in younger children is the removing of tonsils and adenoids. This often helps each child perform better at home and in school.
St. Catherine of Siena Hospital's Sleep Disorders Center (Smithtown, NY) offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders by board-certified sleep specialists in a comfortable, calming and home-like setting. Patients undergo sleep testing in one of four specially designed bedrooms.
Sleep testing is available for patients form age five years old and older. Younger patients (under five years old) can be referred to the Good Samaritan Pediatric Sleep Center.
The sleep center also offers mask fittings for patients with sleep apnea.
St. Charles Hospital's Sleep Disorders Center (Port Jefferson, NY), accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, is a full-service sleep disorders center staffed with board-certified sleep specialists who have diverse backgrounds in areas including pulmonary, psychiatry, neurology, and ear, nose and throat (ENT).
We offer patients a comfortable setting in our hotel style sleep rooms. Pediatric patients are welcome from ages two and older.

Artificial Intelligence for Faster Results
All Catholic Health sleep centers use artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze sleep studies. The process allows faster diagnosis of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.
During a sleep study, multiple data points are recorded. These include:
- Brain waves
- Breathing patterns
- Cardiac signals
- Leg movements
The information collected from a sleep study report can fill hundreds of pages. This time-consuming process is now reduced to about 20 minutes a report. A board-certified physician reviews each sleep report.
AI means faster follow-up appointments and less time spent handling the health challenges caused by sleep disorders.

COVID-19 Information
Our goal is to provide a safe and healthy testing environment for every patient at each of our sleep centers.
- Our facilities are in a quiet, private area within the hospital. That means fewer interactions with staff or other hospital patients.
- Catholic Health strives to enhance infection control. Each suite and bathroom are cleaned following all hospital standards. Clean, fresh linens, including bedsheets, blankets and pillowcases, are provided for your stay. If you require extra pillows or blankets, they are available upon request.
- HEPA filters are used in each of our sleep suites and filters are changed at the recommended manufacturer intervals.
- All of sleep technologists are vaccinated and many have already received their booster.
- Upon arrival you will be asked if you are feeling ill or if you have a fever. If you have a fever above 100 degrees fahrenheit, or are exhibiting other COVID-19 symptoms, your sleep study will be rescheduled for the health and safety of you and our staff members.
- Sleep technologists wear surgical masks or N95 masks during their interactions with you.
- If you require a surgical mask, we can provide one to you upon arrival.
- Electrode wires and CPAP masks, including hoses, are disposable.
