HeartCare 2025

For the third year in a row, Catholic Health’s St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center has been awarded HeartCARE Center™ designation by The American College of Cardiology (ACC). St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center remains the only ACC HeartCARE Center™ in the region (including the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island and Westchester County) and is one of only two New York facilities to hold the designation.

To achieve ACC HeartCARE Center™ designation, a hospital must demonstrate its commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care. This includes advancing process improvements, attaining disease- and procedure-specific accreditations, promoting professional excellence, engaging with the community and actively participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs aimed at enhancing safety and patient experience.

St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center has earned the HeartCARE Center™ National Distinction of Excellence by fulfilling rigorous criteria and demonstrating consistent high performance through registry reporting. St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center is also the only hospital on Long Island with an ACC-accredited Cardiac Catheterization Lab and ACC-certified TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) program. Additionally, it is Nassau County’s only hospital accredited as an ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention).

“Our consistent recognition reflects St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center’s steadfast dedication to advancing quality and patient safety,” said St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center President Charles Lucore, MD, MBA. “Earning this designation from the American College of Cardiology for the third consecutive year is a true testament to the excellence of our cardiovascular team. Every day, they are committed to delivering world-class care with the compassion that defines Catholic Health.”

In addition to HeartCARE Center™ accreditation, St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center recently earned a 5-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, its 24th Leapfrog “A” score for hospital safety (the most for any hospital in New York State), and was ranked among the top hospitals in the country for 2024-25 by U.S. News & World Report.
