St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center recently opened a new art gallery in collaboration with The Art Guild of Long Island, a nonprofit visual arts center based in Port Washington, New York. The gallery features 34 photographs of Long Island landscapes captured by local artists.
“Each image is an inspiring window into the beauty of our island,” said St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center President Charles Lucore, MD, MBA. “We are honored to partner with The Art Guild to create a space for our patients, staff and visitors to relax and take in the exceptional work of some of Long Island’s best artists. Art can be therapeutic – for the mind, body and soul. Patient care exists in many forms, and we believe in providing our community with a thorough approach to healing.”
The photographs featured in the Roslyn hospital’s gallery were selected from a pool of submissions. Local community members—including employees at St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center and The Art Guild—were encouraged to submit their work for consideration.
“This exhibit at St. Francis Hospital provides our artists an additional opportunity to display their magnificent work,” said Lisa Grossman, executive director of The Art Guild. “Our organization thrives when we collaborate with our community partners. St. Francis stands out as a true source of support for Long Island artists.”
The featured artists and their families recently gathered at a reception at St. Francis Hospital to preview the gallery. The photographs will be on display for six months, with new artwork scheduled to be installed in the summer of 2025.
