St. Charles Hospital Appoints New Chief Operating Officer

Dominick Pernice, RT, MBA, has been named Chief Operating Officer for Catholic Health’s St. Charles Hospital (Port Jefferson, NY). In his new role, Pernice will oversee daily hospital operational and administrative functions; design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures; set comprehensive goals for performance and growth across all clinical services lines; and continue to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

Most recently, Pernice served as COO for Catholic Health’s St. Catherine of Siena Hospital (SCSH) for the past year. During this time, Pernice successfully increased patient experience scores with the implementation of Catholic Health’s first high reliability unit (HRU) at the hospital’s post-surgery inpatient unit, as well as a second HRU on the hospital’s cardiac surgery floor. In addition, Pernice managed the construction of the St. Francis Heart Center at St. Catherine, bringing St. Francis’s expert cardiovascular care closer to home for Smithtown residents and surrounding areas. Pernice was also instrumental in developing diagnostic imaging and consolidating mammography services at Catholic Health Ambulatory Care at Commack.

His expertise from having worked at both hospitals will be an asset as we look to further expand clinical services at St. Charles Hospital.”

Prior to joining Catholic Health, Pernice served as assistant director of radiology, supervisor of magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound, evening imaging supervisor and radiologic technologist at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. Mr. Pernice earned his Master of Business Administration at LIU Post and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.
