Good Samaritan University Hospital (West Islip, NY) has again achieved accreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery. This accreditation recognizes Good Samaritan’s expertise in minimally invasive surgery as well as its commitment to outstanding patient care and safety. The SRC’s recognition reiterates the hospital’s national ranking in Obstetrics & Gynecology by US News & World Report.
“In being accredited as a Center of Excellence Good Samaritan is recognized as meeting nationally and internationally recognized standards,” said Good Samaritan President Justin Lundbye, MD, MBA, FACHE. “At Good Samaritan, patients are our priority and providing them the highest level of care is always our #1 goal. This Center of Excellence recognition gives testimony to our commitment.”
Health care facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
“We’re proud to recognize Good Samaritan University Hospital for its commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”
In addition to Good Samaritan University Hospital, Catholic Health Physician Partner’s Mark Pillitteri, Keith Downing, Yi-Chun Lee and Jennifer McEachron were all recipients of recognition by the SRC, with Dr. Pillitteri, Dr. Lee and Dr. McEachron being named Master Surgeons. This exemplifies their excellent quality and outcomes.
