Comprehensive and Compassionate Care

Good Samaritan Nursing & Rehabilitation (Sayville, NY) is committed to a belief and philosophy that recognizes individualized care and professional excellence. As a team of healers, we provide compassionate care with respect to the value and dignity of those in our care.

We provide a variety of programs and services dedicated to supporting patients and their families in managing their conditions with dignity and ease. Our goal is to not simply maintain but dramatically improve quality of life and independence. As part of the Catholic Health system, Good Samaritan Nursing & Rehabilitation patients and residents have access to a vast network of specialists.

Upon admission, a social worker will meet with you and your family and assist you in making the transition to Good Samaritan Nursing & Rehabilitation. The social worker will facilitate adjustment at the facility as well as provide a caring and supportive relationship and address the medical, social and emotional needs of each patient.

All residents are encouraged to develop and participate in their plan of care.

Highlights of Our Programs & Services

Our nutrition department delivers nutritious, quality meals to residents with a customer-centered approach. Meals are served from a menu planned under the direction of a registered dietitian.

Our clinical dietitian will meet with you or your loved one upon admission to initiate meal services and discuss food preferences, allergies, ethnic, religious and/or cultural requirements, as well as any other pertinent nutritional information that will assist the dietitian in helping you plan appropriate meal choices. Together, goals and interventions will be set, and an individualized care plan will be developed.

Monthly food committee meetings allow each resident to voice their food concerns, provide menu input and be informed of any changes and upcoming events. In addition, our clinical dietitian is available as needed to provide individualized services and counseling regarding specific dietary concerns.

Specials for our residents and their families include:

  • Dinner parties and dessert nights
  • Special meals for the holidays
  • Barbecues in our outdoor patios and special events

The spiritual needs of residents are important to Good Samaritan Nursing & Rehabilitation. Our pastoral care department strives to maintain an atmosphere where multiple faith communities may live, pray, grieve, celebrate and thrive together. Mass, devotions, prayer groups, celebrations and bereavement groups are coordinated for all faiths.

We offer weekly mass with a priest and lively pastoral care volunteers provide daily support to enhance a living faith for all denominations. Our chapel and meditation room is designed with space to accommodate wheelchairs.

We encourage residents, patients, their families and friends, staff and visitors to use our chapel for quiet moments of prayer, devotion and solace. The pastoral care staff is dedicated to the emotional, social and spiritual care of our residents, their families and staff. Our main focus is to be aware of and provide for evolving spiritual care needs.

Our recreation department strives to offer each resident a diversified program of stimulating and creative activities through meaningful and therapeutic programs. Each resident is encouraged to develop new interests and involvement in leisure programs while promoting continued involvement in previous hobbies.

This comprehensive, individualized program includes cognitive, physical, intellectual, creative, social and solitary recreational pursuits. Our highly experienced and specialized staff motivates our residents to take an active interest in the community and activities outside the facility.
